Sub Fusc Scheme

Oxford SU Subfusc Scheme

All incoming undergraduate students who are in receipt of a means-tested scholarship or bursary can apply to receive a free academic gown set from Oxford SU.

A sub-fusc is the academic clothing that Oxford students must wear during exams, and during the matriculation ceremony, all new students go through. Part of the subfusc is an academic gown, which may be worn at some college events, such as formal dinners.

Every student needs to have access to a sub-fusc set. Most students will buy their subfusc from a shop in Oxford when they arrive for 1st week, however, students on a scholarship or bursary can apply to pick up a free set from the Students’ Union's temporary office at Hayes House, 75 George Street.

Applications will be accepted until 30th September (or until supplies run out). Please apply using the link below:

There is limited stock and subfuscs will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. Subfuscs must be collected on 10th and 11th of October (1st week).
