Conference of Common Rooms

Conference of Common Rooms is the SU's democratic decision-making space. The aim of it is to build a collective voice amongst the student body, providing the Officers of the SU with strong, representative positions and policies to take forward in their work with the University.

Conference members are the Common Rooms, which each send a representative (normally the President) to vote on behalf of their Common Room, in line with any existing common room policy. Voting on motions is normally open for 1 week, to give Presidents time to consult with their common rooms where policy doesn't exist.

You can see how your Common Room has voted on each motion below.

COMMON ROOM VOTING RECORD

The Conference of Common Rooms (CCR) is where your student representatives come together to shape SU policy and positions. Through CCR, we build a strong, collective student voice that your elected Officers can take forward in their work with the University.

How your Common Room participates

Each Common Room sends a representative - typically the President - to vote on motions brought to CCR. Your representative votes according to your Common Room's existing policies where they exist, or after consulting with members when new issues arise.

The voting process:

  • Motions are circulated to all Common Room representatives

  • Voting remains open for one week to allow time for consultation

  • Representatives vote on behalf of their entire Common Room

  • All votes are recorded and made public for transparency
